Two fabrics, one considered composition. This open abaya is constructed in a smooth, lustrous fabric with a firm, graceful drape and a quietly luminous finish — the main body cut from a rich, light-catching satin, with the front placket edges and sleeve cuffs finished in a double layer of soft, semi-sheer fabric that falls in a gentle, fluid border against the structured satin beneath. The contrast between the two — the weight and sheen of the satin against the delicate, airy drape of the sheer trim — is deliberate and refined. A fine white embroidered line runs along the inner edge of each placket trim, adding a precise, considered detail at the opening.
The defining embellishment: a cascading arrangement of multicolour floral and botanical embroidery worked across the upper body — covering the shoulder, chest and upper sleeve in a flowing, diagonal composition that reads like a garden in full bloom. Large rose blooms in blush pink sit alongside full peony heads in dusty blue-grey, with green leaf sprigs and fine vine trails connecting the botanical elements in a naturalistic, unhurried arrangement. The embroidery is densely worked with a three-dimensional quality — the petals raised and layered for a sculptural finish that catches the light and casts a subtle shadow against the black satin ground.
